Each project begins with a client meeting. Our primary objective is listening and taking notes as the client shares with us about their home and lifestyle. We discuss their ideal style, look over any inspiration photos they might have gathered, and establish budget. We will then present the design fee proposal. Once accepted, we will begin designing the space or spaces and prepare a thorough presentation. This is also when we begin to liaise with contractors. If the client has not selected one, we will present trusted and appropriate options and set up interviews.
This phase begins with the design presentation. We will share images and tactile samples of finishes, materials, and furnishings. This will take place at the client's home if possible to help them visualize what these textures and pieces will look like in their space. We review the presentation together and then we make any necessary edits before moving forward. The design fee includes two revisions so that we can be sure that we have a shared vision. Once the presentation is approved, we move onto the execution phase.
This is the sourcing phase. We will be purchasing and procuring furnishings, window treatments, wall coverings, and artwork. We will be spending time with the contractor and various trades to discuss the approved designs for them to bid. The millwork company will produce the shop drawings for client review and the contractor will take any plans that may need permits to the city, then begin construction. Throughout this process, the clients' role will be limited. We keep everything moving towards completion while they enjoy watching their home come to life.
During this phase, the real work takes place. We make weekly site visits while construction is underway and hold meetings with the contractor, subcontractors, and the client to keep everyone on the same page. We track the progress of the project and handle any issues that might arise unexpectedly. Transparency is incredibly important during this part of the work and we are careful to offer frequent updates so that you know where the project stands.
By far, this is the most gratifying phase of each project. Construction begins to wrap up and we begin the work of receiving, inspecting, and installing all the pieces of our design. On the final day, we style every last detail so that you have the big reveal moment, and then we celebrate a successful partnership and your beautiful new home.
